Carroll Hills School and Lowes

On January 10th, the students of Carroll Hills School participated in a woodworking clinic called “Build and Grow” sponsored by LOWES of Steubenville and staffed by four volunteers from Lowes: Sue Carr, Jalil Harvey, Media Zeviaos, and Amanda Mosti. The purpose of the clinic was to teach children how to safely complete a project – a ship. The students practiced tool safety and practiced following instructions. Each child was given safety goggles to protect their eyes and was instructed on the proper use of a hammer. When the project was complete, the children were given a certificate of completion and a tool apron. The children also earned a “Build and Grow” badge to sew on their apron or shirt.
